Property Ownership
Overview:
Non Qataris are allowed to buy properties in specific areas for 99 years, renewable for similar terms.
The property is transferable to their heirs.
Foreigners purchased in any on the specified areas are automatically granted residency that extends to his wife, children’s and his parents without a local sponsor.
Property Owners may stay out of the country and return without permission or authorisation.
A Non-Qatari may have the right of usufruct over Real Estate for a term of 99 years renewable for similar terms in the Investment Areas for which a Cabinet resolution is issued.
A Non-Qatari may have the right of usufruct in respect of one Residential Unit or more in residential areas for a term not exceeding 99 years renewable for further similar terms, in accordance with the conditions and procedures determined pursuant to a Cabinet’s resolution.
Having purchased any of the listed properties, Non Qataris are free to rent out their properties.
Absolute Ownership
Foreign Nationals and 100% Foreign Owned Companies can only have Absolute Ownership in the following designated areas;

All Non-Qataris can lease properties on the following designated areas for a period of 99 years on a renewable basis.

GCC Nationals
Citizens from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can buy properties to the designated areas listed above yet ownership is limited. Furthermore, GCC nationals and 100% GCC Owned Companies can own properties without restrictions for residential or commercial purposes and can also get absolute ownership in the following areas.

Currently, there is no property tax in Qatar.
